Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 cups milk (whole milk preferred)
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish or similar size pan.
- In a bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Sift in the flour and baking powder. Gently fold the mixture until smooth with no lumps.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
- While the cake bakes, combine the milk and sweetened condensed milk in a saucepan. Heat gently (do not boil), just until warm.
- Once the cake is done baking, poke holes all over the surface using a fork or skewer. Slowly pour the warm milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in.
- Let the cake cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight) for best flavor and texture.
Optional: Top with whipped cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon, or fresh fruit before serving.
