By Amna Malik

Ingredient

  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups cabbage, shredded
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 carrots, julienned
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (or vegetable oil)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the sliced beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce and a pinch of black pepper. Let it marinate for 10–15 minutes.
  2. Heat a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sesame oil.
  3. Stir-fry the beef slices quickly until browned (about 2–3 minutes). Remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add garlic, ginger, onion, and carrots. Stir-fry for 2 minutes until slightly softened.
  5. Add shredded cabbage and cook for another 3–4 minutes, stirring frequently.
  6. Return the beef to the pan, then add the remaining soy sauce and oyster sauce. Toss everything together until well coated and heated through.
  7. Adjust seasoning with black pepper if needed.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
