Ingredients
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup (65g) granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Optional Toppings:
- Cinnamon sugar (1/2 cup sugar + 1 tbsp cinnamon)
- Powdered sugar
- Chocolate glaze or icing
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Heat 2–3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
- Carefully drop teaspoons of batter into the hot oil. Fry in small batches to avoid overcrowding.
- Fry for about 2–3 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove doughnuts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- While still warm, roll them in cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar, or drizzle with glaze.
