Perfectly Mini Doughnuts

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup (65g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Optional Toppings:

  • Cinnamon sugar (1/2 cup sugar + 1 tbsp cinnamon)
  • Powdered sugar
  • Chocolate glaze or icing

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter until well combined.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Heat 2–3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
  5. Carefully drop teaspoons of batter into the hot oil. Fry in small batches to avoid overcrowding.
  6. Fry for about 2–3 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Remove doughnuts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. While still warm, roll them in cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar, or drizzle with glaze.
