Ingredients
- 4 large russet potatoes
- 2 tbsp olive oil (or melted butter)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Optional toppings: sour cream, shredded cheese, butter, green onions, bacon bits
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Scrub the potatoes well and pat them dry.
- Prick each potato several times with a fork.
- Rub the potatoes with olive oil (or butter), then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack (with a baking sheet underneath to catch drips).
- Bake for 45–60 minutes, or until the skin is crisp and a fork slides easily into the center.
- Remove from the oven, slice open, and fluff the insides with a fork.
- Add your favorite toppings and serve hot.
