Ingredients
- Ladyfingers (Savoiardi): 300g (about 30 cookies)
- Mascarpone Cheese: 500g
- Eggs: 4 large, separated
- Sugar: 100g (½ cup)
- Espresso Coffee: 300ml (1¼ cup), cooled
- Marsala Wine: 2 tablespoons (optional)
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder: For dusting
Instructions
- Prepare the Coffee Mixture:
- Brew strong espresso coffee and let it cool. Add Marsala wine if desired for extra flavor.
- Make the Mascarpone Cream:
- Separate the egg yolks and whites. In a bowl, whisk the yolks with sugar until pale and creamy.
- Add mascarpone cheese to the yolk mixture and gently fold until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Carefully fold the whites into the mascarpone mixture to create a light and airy cream.
- Layer the Tiramisu:
- Dip each ladyfinger briefly into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
- Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a dish or individual serving cups.
- Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.
- Chill and Serve:
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- Before serving, dust the top generously with unsweetened cocoa powder.
