Tiramisu Recipe

Ingredients

  • Ladyfingers (Savoiardi): 300g (about 30 cookies)
  • Mascarpone Cheese: 500g
  • Eggs: 4 large, separated
  • Sugar: 100g (½ cup)
  • Espresso Coffee: 300ml (1¼ cup), cooled
  • Marsala Wine: 2 tablespoons (optional)
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder: For dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Coffee Mixture:
  • Brew strong espresso coffee and let it cool. Add Marsala wine if desired for extra flavor.
  1. Make the Mascarpone Cream:
  • Separate the egg yolks and whites. In a bowl, whisk the yolks with sugar until pale and creamy.
  • Add mascarpone cheese to the yolk mixture and gently fold until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Carefully fold the whites into the mascarpone mixture to create a light and airy cream.
  1. Layer the Tiramisu:
  • Dip each ladyfinger briefly into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
  • Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a dish or individual serving cups.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
  • Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.
  1. Chill and Serve:
  • Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Before serving, dust the top generously with unsweetened cocoa powder.
