2-Ingredient Carnivore Creme Brûlée 🍮
Ingredients
– 2 cups heavy cream (preferably raw or grass-fed)
– 1 whole egg
– 3 egg yolks
Optional Ingredients (for animal-based version)
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– 1-2 tsp alulose or preferred animal-based sweetener
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
2. In a bowl, whisk together the whole egg and egg yolks until well combined.
3. Warm the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
4. Slowly pour the warm cream into the egg mixture, whisking continuously to temper the eggs.
5. If desired, stir in vanilla extract and/or sweetener of choice.
6. Pour the mixture into ramekins or small baking dishes.
7. Place the ramekins in a large baking dish and add hot water to the dish, about halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
8. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
9. Remove from the oven and let cool to room temperature. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
10. Just before serving, sprinkle a thin layer of granulated sweetener (if using) over the top of each ramekin. Caramelize with a kitchen torch, if available.
Tips and Variations
– Use high-quality, grass-fed ingredients for the best flavor and nutrition.
– Adjust the amount of sweetener to your taste.
– Experiment with different flavorings, such as cinnamon or nutmeg, for a unique twist.
– If you don’t have a kitchen torch, you can caramelize the sugar under the broiler, but watch carefully to avoid burning.
Serving Suggestions
– Serve chilled, with a caramelized sugar crust.
– Enjoy as a rich, creamy dessert or snack.
Note: I’ve kept the original recipe’s simplicity and focus on animal-based ingredients, while adding a bit more detail and clarity to the instructions.
